Biography
I have been married 22 years. I have four daughters ages 12-19 years old. I have been practicing law for over 16 years. I have a broad range of experience in civil litigation defending people who have been sued. For three of those years I served as an administrative law judge for the New Mexico Workers' Compensation Administration. My philosophy is that judges should uphold the Constitution and enforce the rule of law and should not re-write the law.

After graduating from high school, I served a mission in Nagoya, Japan for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was a wonderful opportunity to experience a different culture and learn another language and I gained a deep appreciation and love for the people of Japan. One of the most important things I learned is that we have a responsibility to serve and help one another. As a missionary I found great joy in helping others find purpose in their lives. Serving a mission was one of the most challenging things I have ever done but it was also one of the most rewarding.

Upon returning from Japan, I enrolled at Arizona State University where I graduated Cum Laude with my B.A. in English. I then was offered a scholarship to attend Brigham Young University Law School. I graduated Cum Laude from B.Y.U. in 1993. While at B.Y.U I was privileged to serve as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Law and Education

Since graduating from law school, I have practiced law in a variety of areas including complex commercial litigation, civil rights, employment and workers’ compensation. I served for three years as an administrative law judge. My practice has helped me gain a great appreciation for viewing legal and factual issues from all perspectives. I have found that my clients can understand losing a case, but what they cannot understand is why the law applies one way to one party and another way to another party. It is critical that the Courts follow the law and not legislate from the bench.
